ABOUT ME

Jelena Hrvoj was born in 1987, in Zabok, Croatia. She graduated in graphic design at the School for Art and Design. She began her literary career in 2014 by publishing her first psychological thriller Shtorka. Soon after, she started working for the online literary magazine Kvaka as an editor and columnist. In the year 2016, Jelena was accepted into the Croatian Literary Association/Croatian Zagorje branch and started working for online magazines Amazonke and Book Club (Književni klub). In addition, she worked as a reviewer for the EUPL (European Union prize for literature) from 2020. to 2023. So far, she has published eleven books, even including Croatian folklore in the main themes of the stories.

Jelena is also active as a surrealist and fantasy  illustrator specializing in watercolor technique. She has held three independent art exhibitions, and is a proud illustrator of several picture books, a novel, and a book of poetry. Her art was included as a main theme of a Literary festival "Susret riječi Bedekovčina" in 2018. The first appearance as an artist was back in 1997. in one of the Croatian most known art museum Mimara where she exhibited her piece "Between Heaven and Hell". To this day, Hrvoj sold over 300 original artworks.

As a dedicated lover of Croatian folklore, she worked on numerous articles and videos, promoting myths and legends from her Country.
